Waitlist Psychoeducation

This information is designed for use by our intending and current clients, however, if you are not a client of the practice, you are welcome to use this information that many people have found helpful.

Welcome to Chris Mackey and Associates Psychology!

Thank you for your patience whilst waiting for your initial appointment. We are currently experiencing a greatly increased demand for appointments and are aware that there may be a wait from several weeks to months to see one of our psychologists. The following tabs might guide you to some of our most popular resources on particular themes that you can access prior to your first session.

Many of our clients find these resources helpful to initiate the therapy process. Much of the information overlaps with the guidance given during sessions. It supplements the psychoeducation that will be provided in therapy. A number of clients are proving to make more rapid progress than usual as a result of accessing some of these materials.

You may also want to listen to the podcast episode, The Helpfulness of Hope, in which we discuss how new clients can make a positive start from the commencement of therapy. Our podcast episode on goal setting might also help to focus your efforts on what you might most gain from therapy.

As waiting times are longer than ideal at present, we strongly recommend staying in frequent contact with your General Practitioner. Please investigate other services if the waiting times seem longer than your needs require.

If your condition is worsening, we recommend contacting a number of alternative services, such as the free service Head to Help – 1800 595 212 (9-5 weekdays), the Barwon Health Mental Health Triage Line – 1300 094 187 (24 hours) or Lifeline – 13 11 14 (24 hours).

Click on the pictures below to access the resources related to that topic.

Please also feel free to explore our website further. We have built a collection of many informative blogs, videos and podcasts on the resources page which may be of interest to you prior to your first appointment.

You may also want to check out the practice podcast, Psych Spiels and Silver Linings, where Principal Chris Mackey is joined by digital media manager, Rowan as they discuss Chris’s top tips from over 40 years providing clinical therapy, as well as a range of other issues related to mental health and wellbeing.

We have also recorded a podcast episode on the many online resources that are available for mental health that you may also want to check out – https://www.chrismackey.com.au/a-recipe-of-resources/

Please don’t hesitate to call us if you have any queries.

We look forward to meeting you!
