Strength in You

Could a simple half-hour exercise help you flourish? This article makes the case for taking the character strengths survey in order to improve your sense of self-worth and well-being. The character strengths survey is available through the VIA Institute on character and takes roughly 15 minutes to complete. You will then be given your character strengths signature, which is your chosen hierarchy of values within the list of character strengths.

List of Character Strengths

The list of 24 character strengths in the character strengths survey are organised into 6 different categories, they are as follows:

  1. Wisdom and Knowledge: creativity, curiosity, judgment, love of learning, perspective
  2. Courage: bravery, perseverance, honesty, zest
  3. Humanity: love, kindness, social intelligence
  4. Justice: teamwork, fairness, leadership
  5. Temperance: forgiveness, humility, prudence, self-regulation
  6. Transcendence: an appreciation of beauty and excellence, gratitude, hope, humour, spirituality
