Welcome to our eNewsletter
We have had a great start to 2010 with many positive intiatives getting underway within the practice.Sadly, Emma Musella has left the practice in February to allow more time for busy family life. Emma joined the practice nine years ago and has contributed enormously to the wellbeing of a great many people she has seen. We shall miss her and we wish her and her family well for the future.

Research Paper Accepted for 2010 AACBT National Conference
We have been very pleased to learn of the acceptance of our research paper on the evaluation of the effectiveness of treatments we offer through the practice. We shall present the research at the 2010 National Conference of the Australian Association for Cognitive and Behaviour Therapy in Melbourne on 19th April.
More frequent questions are being raised in the media about the effectiveness of psychological interventions, and especially of psychological services subsidized through the Medicare (Better Access) scheme.
Little evidence on this issue has been reported to date. Our early data suggest that, on average, our clients with anxiety and depressive symptoms show a reduction from moderate symptoms to slight to mild symptoms, even when they are not using prescribed medication. We are encouraged by these findings and believe they will help endorse the cost-effectiveness of psychological treatments.
Welcome to Megan Trickey
Megan Trickey, a student completing a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from La Trobe University, commenced an 80-day final placement in mid-February. We are very happy to be able to offer such a placement for the first time as it is consistent with our practice goal of becoming nationally recognized as a centre of excellence in the training of specialist psychologists. Megan's profile will soon be posted on our staff page. Megan will be offering therapy services under supervision for a range of difficulties including anxiety, depression and substance abuse. She will also be assisting with our research into the effectiveness of therapy interventions offered through the practice.
